A pump or fan motor rarely stops all at once. When a bearing starts to wear, vibration rises, the winding heats up and the current draw changes. These signs often show up weeks in advance; but if nobody is watching, the failure happens "out of nowhere".
Predictive maintenance means monitoring these signs continuously:
- Vibration: the first sign of bearing and alignment problems
- Winding temperature: overload and cooling problems
- Current and energy: mechanical strain and loss of efficiency
- Speed: slip and load changes
A small device that collects this data and evaluates it with thresholds and trend tracking separates planned downtime from unplanned failure. The cost of an unplanned stop often exceeds the cost of the monitoring system.
We work in this field on Pumplogger, which we developed ourselves: a gateway that monitors energy, winding temperature, speed and vibration on large pump motors and evaluates the data with its own model.
At SMB Teknoloji we provide motor and machine monitoring, predictive maintenance and sensor infrastructure services.
