Definition
Predictive maintenance means measuring a machine's condition continuously, predicting a failure before it happens and doing the maintenance exactly when needed. It differs from reactive maintenance (repair after breakdown) and periodic maintenance (replace parts by calendar) by deciding from measurements. Vibration, temperature, current, sound and oil analysis are the most common measurements; rotating equipment such as motors, pumps, compressors and fans gives the best results. Data is collected continuously from sensors; thresholds and statistical or AI models catch deviations from normal early. The gain is fewer unplanned stops and parts used to the end of their life.

With our own Pompalog platform and predictive-maintenance model we monitor motors and pumps from the field; vibration and temperature sensors connect to the existing PLC or a separate field device.
