Definition
Vibration analysis determines the health of rotating machines (motors, pumps, fans, gearboxes, compressors) by measuring the vibration of their casing. Each fault type leaves its own vibration signature: bearing damage at high frequency, imbalance at the rotation frequency, coupling misalignment at its multiples. Measurement is continuous with accelerometer sensors or periodic with a handheld device; the ISO 20816 series defines which vibration level is acceptable for which machine class. It is the most mature tool of predictive maintenance; a bearing failure is noticed weeks ahead and the replacement moved into a planned stop.
How SMB Teknoloji uses it
We fit continuous vibration sensors to critical motors and pumps, set alarms on ISO 20816 thresholds and track the trend with the predictive-maintenance model.
