Definition
Fibre optic cable carries data as light instead of electricity. It is used for distances beyond copper's 100-metre limit (between buildings, across factory sites, long corridors), for production areas with heavy electrical noise and for backbone links that need high speed. There are two types: multimode is economical for short and medium distances; singlemode carries for kilometres and leaves room for future speed upgrades. Fibre is immune to lightning and ground-potential differences, which is why it is preferred over copper when linking separate buildings. Termination needs special equipment and every link is tested with an optical power measurement. The cable itself is cheap; labour and termination decide the cost.
How SMB Teknoloji uses it
We build backbones between buildings and across factories with fibre, do the termination and measurement and hand over the report with the diagram.
