Definition

A hotspot is wireless internet access for guests or customers that is separate from the company network and identifies the user. On connecting, a welcome page opens; the user registers with an SMS code sent to their phone or with an ID number, accepts the terms, and then gets online. Every session is recorded and matched with the 5651 logs. Time, speed and quota limits can be set and the service switched off outside opening hours. It is standard for hotels, cafés, restaurants, dormitories, hospitals and waiting rooms. Open Wi-Fi without a password, or one password for everyone, does not count as a hotspot for security or legal purposes.

How SMB Teknoloji uses it

We separate the guest network with a VLAN, set up a branded welcome page with SMS verification and link session records to the 5651 server; in hotels and cafés the installation usually takes one day.
