Definition
OEE is the measure that shows in one percentage how productively a machine or line really runs. It has three factors: availability (how much of the planned time it ran), performance (how close to target speed while running) and quality (how much of the output was defect-free). Eighty-five percent is considered good worldwide; unmeasured lines usually come out at forty to sixty. Its value is not the number itself but showing where the losses are: short stops, speed loss or scrap. Calculated from data collected automatically from the PLC it is real; calculated from hand-filled forms it is usually optimistic.
How SMB Teknoloji uses it
We collect stop, count and scrap data automatically from existing PLCs and build an OEE dashboard; breakdowns by shift, product and stop reason are reported.
