Definition
SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is the monitoring and control software that brings a plant's PLCs, meters and field devices onto one screen. The operator sees the production line, pump station or energy system there, receives alarms and changes setpoints. It records data; historical trends, production reports and failure analyses come from these records. While the PLC runs the machine moment by moment, SCADA supervises the whole. Modern SCADA is reachable from a browser and a phone but must not be exposed directly to the internet and should be separated from the IT network by a firewall (IEC 62443).

We design SCADA screens on ISA-101 principles, set up alarm management per ISA-18.2 and separate the OT network from IT; data is retained for reporting and predictive maintenance.
