Definition

A UPS keeps devices such as servers, switches, recorders and PLCs running from a battery when the mains fails or the voltage fluctuates. Its purpose is not to run for days but to bridge short outages and, in a long one, give systems time to shut down cleanly. Sizing uses the load (watts) and the required time (minutes); with a network card the UPS shuts the server down automatically before the battery runs out. Batteries are replaced every three to five years; an unmaintained UPS is the first thing to fail during an outage. It is considered mandatory for server rooms, camera recording points and automation panels.

How SMB Teknoloji uses it

In server and camera installations we size the UPS with the load, configure automatic shutdown and put the battery replacement date in the maintenance calendar.
