Definition

Virtualisation means running several independent virtual servers (virtual machines) on one physical server. Each virtual machine has its own operating system, memory and disk; the accounting server, file server, HIS and a test environment share the hardware without affecting each other. The gains are fewer physical machines, virtual machines that can be copied and moved in minutes, and backups taken as whole servers. With two physical hosts and shared storage in a cluster, virtual machines restart on the other host when one fails. Even in small businesses, virtualising the single server is the standard approach for portability and backup.

How SMB Teknoloji uses it

We migrate physical servers to virtualisation, build two-host clusters and run backup and restore tests at virtual-machine level; the platform choice is vendor-neutral.
